Purchased upgrade license through Pax8, but wasn't able to directly apply the new Product Key because Home indicated the product key didn't work. "The product key you entered didn't work. Check the product key and try again or enter a different one. (0xc004f050)"
Even though the new laptop did list Professional in its applicable upgrade path, Option 1 did not work for me. I ended up using Option 2 and we were able to get the new license key activated.

Please see the set of instructions below, to determine if the which editions are eligible for an upgrade;
First, determine what editions the current version of Windows can be upgraded to
Open Command Prompt as an Administrator
Enter the command
DISM /online /Get-TargetEditions
If you see "Professional" in the list, then you can upgrade your Windows edition to Pro.
Proceed with the steps in Option 1, if it is not in the list, go to Option 2.
Option 1
Enter each of the remaining commands into Command Prompt one at a time:
slmgr.vbs /upk
slmgr.vbs /cpky
slmgr.vbs /ckms
sc config LicenseManager start= auto & net start LicenseManager
sc config wuauserv start= auto & net start wuauserv
changepk.exe /productkey PK W269N-WFGWX-YVC9B-4J6C9-T83GX
Restart the computer
After the restart, go to the Windows System page where you do the activation.
Hit the change product key, enter the product key bought from Pax8 and then activate.
Option 2
- On the computer that needs to be updated start by turning off the internet by putting it in airplane mode.
- Next, hit The Windows key and search activation to open the activations settings page.
- Click Change and enter this generic key
- VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T
- This will temporarily upgrade the device to Windows 11 Pro.
- Restart computer.
- Turn the internet back on by disabling airplane mode.
- After the restart, go to the Windows System page where you do the activation.
- Hit the change product key, enter the product key bought from Pax8 and then activate.
